On Friday we had a workshop for a new business, searching for the minimal viable product in the area of fundraising.

In order to learn a bit more about some of the basics and have some fun afterwards, we decided to do a quick manual MVP test. The goal was to raise $200 for KIVA by 7pm and if we hit it, I’d take a cream pie in the face. Dual motivation – help a good cause and make Mick look like a goose.

As you’ll see below, we made it to the amount and the cream pies hit their mark. A big thanks to those that supported us and the crew that came to participate in the fun, Lesley-Ann Trow, Steve Hopkins, Michelle Williams, Nikki Durkin, Rob Antulov, and Jo Sabin who organised the event. A special thanks to Andrew and Annie from Photo Art Gallery for supporting us when they couldn’t even make the event.

It was also great to hear from people at 3 different phases of their Pollenizer Focus experiences. Rob with Sportspassion, who was one of our first challenges and where we learned so much about focus. Nikki from 99Dresses who has just gone through the process and is about to launch her MVP. Chris who has a big, wonderful idea and we are working with him to find the right, focused place to start.

As for the MVP test, it was great. As always, it makes you think about the basics and forces confrontation of the realities of an idea when they meet real life.
