In November, SingTel ran it’s first ever internal hackathon, L!feSpark.

150 SingTel employees from around the world came together to create 23 startups in two days.

The inaugural winner was Globe Hop and part of their prize was the opportunity to come to Sydney to work in the Hive with us for three months.

The team arrived in Sydney last week and Max from Globe Hop has written a quick post on their experiences so far.

The best way for big companies to start something… is to start. That’s what we did, we started – a team of four from different parts of a telco coming together and building on an idea that connects closely with every member of the team. That was when Globe Hop was founded. We want to help travellers see the world through the eyes of locals.

It’s the team’s first week at Pollenizer and we spent much time soaking up the contagious collaborative vibe from various teams at Pollenizer. Using Pollenizer’s startup science with the Lean Dashboard, we now have the list of hypothesis to test. With these tests planned out, Globe Hop is on its way to getting its very first win – our very first site to let locals submit their recommendations for how to best experience their city’s local flavors.

Arriving at Sydney just a week ago, the good food and great people have been amazing. We’ll be at the Hive for another 11 weeks. The team expects many challenges ahead of us but with Pollenizer’s scientific test methods, it will be exciting to see what the team will be able to put together by the end of this 12 weeks program. You can follow us on this 12 week journey by following us on www.facebook.com/globehop.
