Here at FLT, we’ve spent the past few months establishing a presence as a new type of startup publication. We’re not interested in startup hype and hullaballoo — our goal is to cover Australian startups in a way that helps our founders, investors, governments and mentors be better at what they do.

While our voice is still new, we’re excited about all 2013 has in store. In a relatively short period of time, we’ve published some good insights on the issues facing Australian startups, and shared the stories of Australian founders. We also released a major report with Deloitte Private, the Startup Genome Project and Pollenizer — it sparked plenty of healthy debate and discussion, which is exactly what we’re here to do.

We hope to build on this momentum by launching our event series in February. We’ve already locked in some exciting speakers, and have some fantastic sessions planned. At this stage, we plan on running a number major events on topics like removing risk, incentivising entrepreneurship and what role government should play. We’ll also host the odd pop-up events when inspiring startup people are in town. Stay tuned and we’ll announce a full program of events early in the new year.

Today, we’ve published our final few stories for 2012. We’ll be taking a short break over Christmas and New Year (…no we won’t, we’ll still read Pando Daily, TechCrunch and Twitter every day 😉 – Alan)

But to be honest, we can’t wait to jump back in again. There’s just so much happening worth writing about.

We want to play a more active role in supporting an agenda that helps startups. We’re currently exploring the best ways to do this, so by all means, share your views.

It’s not a complete Zeitgeist, but we’d like to thank the several hundred people we’ve met with, written about or have partnered with. The support of the folks at Pollenizer, The New Agency and Event Directors has been incredible.

We’ve had an incredibly warm welcome from the wider startup community too, so thank you for supporting us. We recently published a post about our most active community members, but there are so many more people who’ve helped us by sharing their stories, putting us in touch with interesting people, and providing insights into topics we didn’t fully understand.

And of course, we’re grateful for all those who’ve been honest and told us exactly they love, and exactly they don’t about FLT. Our goal is to do more of the first, so please give us your genuine feedback.

To everyone who’s read our stuff, commented, tweeted or shared, we say thanks.

See you in 2013.
