Startup education provider General Assembly, is calling for nominations for its inaugural Australian tech awards, to recognise the best local entrepreneurs and startups.
Nominations for the Australian awards close at midnight on Wednesday 14 November.
“We’re trying to find the top people in different startup categories and celebrate the talent we have locally,” says Riley Batchelor, founder of the Australian arm of General Assembly.
The awards will become an annual occurrence, highlighting the achievements of Australian startups. Batchelor says winners will receive national exposure and gain credibility, and also be eligible for a number of prizes.
“You can nominate yourself or someone else. Those with a few nominations will be shortlisted for others to vote on.”
General Assembly launched in Australia in May this year; with courses covering topics like the essentials of startup law and user acquisition marketing. It now runs classes most nights of the week, out of a space in the Fishburners building in Ultimo, Sydney. The company has campuses in cities including New York, London, and Berlin. It recently announced it had raised $10 million from investors including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh.
Nominations for the Australian awards close at midnight on Wednesday 14 November.
