2 years ago, a bunch of us sat in a cafe in Darlinghurst to hatch a plan. Phaedon pulled us together and said “Look fellas, Australia doesn’t have a tech conference that the world can look upon and say OMG!” I was there, Mick Liubinskas was there, Tony Surtees was there, the NICTA guys were there… it was a full cafe. Phaedon emptied his fat address book into Gmail until a great group assembled to solve this problem.

The conversation was rich and decisive. We MUST do this. A big idea that resonated from that meeting was Tony Surtees saying that we needed to help the community understand this new ‘asset class’ that is early stage technology.

We must do this thing. Awesome. So who’s gonna do what?

Rather embarrassingly, we all mumbled, lowered our heads and said something about being really busy but we would support as best we could.

For the next 2 years, Phaedon and Pollenizer met and we talked about getting this AMAZING event going. Then we did nothing.

Now, we have started.
