One thing I find useful when picking a new business name is to use it in sentences that you expect and would like to hear it used. If a name doesn’t work doing that, then you should find something else.
You should think about what applies to your business, but here are some good generic ones you can use;
- “I bought this on ___________”
- “I’m just so addicted to _________”
- “Have you checked out __________”
- “The latest big thing is ___________”
- “Hi, I’m from _______ and we’re looking for cool products to sell”
- “_________ IPO’s on NASDAQ”
- “________ gets investment from Sequoia”
- “I work for _______”
- “Your name, your job title, __________”
- “Why don’t you _______ it?”
Any more to add?
The clever chaps at Stateless Systems / Retailmenot have a trick, where they show multiple potential names on cards to a person then ask them which name(s) they remember. Always important to have a memorable business name, especially for b2c businesses!
