Just polishing off the UnMarketing book I mentioned last week and thought I’d share another lightbulb moment from it. This week it’s that you can easily maximise your promotion by leveraging your actions. Sounds a bit cryptic but it’s actually very straight forward and logical. If you do one great thing at work for one person only that person will know how great you are. If you share it with 100 people then the positive effect is magnified with very little extra effort.

Here’s a couple of examples:
– Instead of answering one customer’s support query over email answer it on twitter or publish as an FAQ
– That proposal you spent 2 weeks preparing could be shared on your favourite LinkedIn group.
– The spreadsheet you created to track your projects could be published on SlideShare
– The industry event your attending could be recorded and streamed live on your blog
– Job applicants could be published on your site and voted on by your customers

OK not all of these may be practical for you but you should get what I mean. Doing something for one person offers very limited promotion, so why not share it with many? You’re doing great work every day, screw writing case studies, just open up the process and let potential customers see just how great you really are.

What actions are you making today you can start leveraging.
