I say that a lot. I’m sure the Pollenizer team is sick of me saying it. But it was. It is. It normally is.
It was Tech23 today which is a bigger than normal big day.
It started at 7.30am with breakfast with Matt Macfarlane from Yuuwa and Bill Bartee from Southern Cross. Great chats.
Then setting up Wooboard at Tech23 innovation island. Putting cards on the seat. Meeting some old friends in the tech space.
Then the first session, working away while a few pitches pitched. Then Stagebitz piteched. Catherine did a great job as usual.
More work.
Working with the team on Unrenovated, Little Red Box, Noble Village…
Board meeting, lots done.
Back to Tech23 to hear Friendorse pitch. Nice job by Bronwen.
Back to the office to meet with Phaedon and Jennifer about 2012.
Back to Tech23 just before awards announced.
Wooboard wins peoples choice – yah – well done Albert.
Stagebitz wins Catalyst award – $25k and a trip to the USA – woohoo – well done Catherine and Mat.
Lots of good chats to tech/web pals. Ice cream. A few wines.
Dinner with Catherine and Mat to talk about next steps for Stagebitz.
Home 10pm.
…A big day.
But it’s not a big day because it’s long or because of some awards. It’s a big day because of the impact people can have.
Albert helped make Wooboard then pitched all day long telling the story and earning the Peoples Choice Award.
Catherine left her family in Canberra to come to Sydney to pitch and share her story with all the passion she could muster.
Bronwen woke at 4am thinking about her pitch and delivering it with energy even though it was second last pitch of the day.
That’s the thing I love about this space and what I am so delighted to get to do each day. I get up, work hard, work it out, work with good people and as I sit and look back on what happened, I can say – I did that.
Each day is a big day in startups because of the impact you can have. I love the impact.
Thanks to everyone for making each day big and possible.
