At Pollenizer we are continually encouraged to further educate ourselves, and in turn to ‘blog’ – or to further educate you, the community. We call it Personal Development, and PD ensures Pollenizer is always evolving as a company, maintaining our education and staying ahead of a rapidly morphing industry.

As someone who has emerged through an entrepreneurial past outside of tech and a strategy background, I have decided to gain some learning around the techniques used to maximise a blogs impact.

Firstly, a blog is not an academic transcript, nor is it a script, not a speech, nor a memo, nor a diary entry. A blog is ‘An informed, frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links.’ (http://bit.ly/nTi346).You may be rolling your eyes, believing you inherently know this. However, with 32.35million blogs on WordPress and Tumblr alone (as of 22nd July 2011) from Personal, Topic, Corporate and Hybrid Blogs, it is very easy for yours to get lost. (http://bit.ly/r3H1t2).

The most fundamental learning I have gained is to be clear on your concept, write an engaging title and keep your blog short and focused.

  1. Make your opinion known.
  2. Link like crazy.
  3. Write less – 250 Words is enough.
  4. Make Headlines snappy.
  5. Include Bullet point lists.
  6. Edit your post.
  7. Give Presentation some thought.
  8. Be consistent with your style.
  9. Litter the post with keywords.
  10. Make it Personal.
  11. Be Honest
  12. Provide Attribution.
