A very quick look into Facebook Ecommerce uncovers some interesting findings:
Search volume is up
Plugging the term “Facebook Ecommerce” into Google Insights shows that searches for the topic have risen rapidly over the last 12 months:
Competition is low
Googling the term “Facebook Ecommerce” reveals two things:
Few companies are appearing in the natural search results with exact match optimised pages, ie Title, description and URL include “Facebook Ecommerce”.
Few companies are running ads on the term and those that do are running generic ads that don’t mention Facebook.
Volume is low
Plugging the term “Facebook Ecommerce” into Google Keyword Tool shows that although volume is up it is still very low:
Is Facebook Ecommerce about to explode and is now the time to get in on the action?

Facebook ecommerce exploding?
Check “Facebook commerce” – double the search volume of “Facebook ecommerce”, but still relatively low. However “Social Commerce” is 10x the volume, and on a steep climb!
Personally I’m betting on it taking off (I have a Magento FB theme under development atm), however I think there is still a lot more benefit for existing ecomm sites to integrate the social graph for personalisation and “social shopping”.
btw, facebookecommerce.com.au *was* available 😉
Good point Jason “facebook commerce” is getting way more traffic.
“social commerce” seems to be the buzz term for the general topic but it covers a lot more than selling on facebook.
Nice pick up on facebookecommerce.com.au 😎
