Andy Coffey

Biography

Hi there, I'm Andy - a unique blend of UI designer, front-end developer and visual artist.

Having built a firm design foundation studying both Fine Arts and Graphic Design I then spent several years in the print industry before moving exclusively to the web in 1999 at Fairfax.

Over a 7 year tenure there I was part of the team that pioneered the company’s move to standards based design and eventually led the creative user interface team. I was also responsible for the visual design of their flagship sites such as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Brisbane Times, MyCareer and Domain.

More recently I've been designing sites for the Australian Football League (AFL) and the National Rugby League (NRL) creating user experiences for some extremely passionate users.

For me design is an ongoing journey, a process of continually learning about users, responding to their behaviors, and developing the product appropriately. I have a passion for creating efficient and beautiful interfaces and firmly believe that great design is part of a great user experience.

When I'm not designing or being a dedicated Dad I still dabble in the fine arts and very occasionally find time to make some music with 'the worlds most indie band' The Cannanes.
